If it’s possible to fall in love with a bird…
this would be The One.
“It is possible that no one has ever described this rare raptor, one of the world’s largest, without using the word “magnificent.” If there are those who did, then heaven heal their souls.”
“In the kind of irony all too familiar to conservationists, however, the very evolutionary adaptations that made it magnificent have also made it one of the planet’s most endangered birds of prey.”
“Awareness about conservation issues, however, is rising in the Philippines. A series of devastating floods and mud slides in the past decade has convinced Filipinos that the loss of forest affects not just wildlife but people too.”

The Philippine Eagle is truly a magnificent bird. Sadly, we are 1 less of this eagle: last month, one got eaten by a farmer who may or may have not shot it on purpose! It was on one of those Libre newspapers from the MRT.
yes, that is indeed very tragic. i wrote about it in my personal blog but forgot to cross-post here. the Philippine Eagle killed was just recently released a few months back, after spending some time being healed and rehabilitated at the Phil. Eagle Foundation. The farmer said that he didn’t know it was a Phil. Eagle. I don’t know if he’s telling the truth, but in any case I also don’t know which is worse – if he was just ignorant or just plain uncaring.
